Use of Stone Textures in Memorial Design
Join MBNA at 2 PM ET for a visual review of common (and not so common) textures used in memorial design; names and descriptions of these textures; and how these textures can enhance remembrance, make your work stand-out, and enhance client satisfaction.

2. Review of actual textures most often used in memorial design
3. Common usage names of these textures
4. Incorporating these textures in our designs
5. Looking for inspiration to create textures
6. Quick review of some of the tools used to create these textures
Our Speaker:
Jed Hendrickson, CM, FAICA is a third-generation memorialist with over 40 years of experience in the industry. He has been a Certified Memorialist since 1995 and served as MBNA’s president from 2001-2002.
Jed is a Fellow of the American Institute of Commemorative Art and has served as its Executive Director since 2012. His background in memorial art was largely acquired by working in his family’s business after school, doing design and layout. His formal art training includes dropping out of two art classes and winning a third grade art contest.
His family’s business, Santa Barbara Monumental Co. Inc., founded in 1931, has now moved on to the fourth generation, being run by his son Ryan and his wife Jennifer.

Southern Monument Builders Association - 2026 Workshop
Join SMBA for an industry tour and workshop at ColdSpring! They will have plant, foundry, and quarry tours. This event will occur July 19 – 22, 2026. Arrive July 19, have tours 20-21, and head home July 22.

The EGA Training Institute - Monument Retailers Course 2026
Join the Elberton Granite Association in Elberton, GA from October 12-15, 2026 for a four-day hands-on training course for monument retailers covering industry history, safety, tours, demonstrations, and classroom instruction. Participants will gain practical knowledge of quarry operations, product handling, and retail best practices.
Cost: $450 (payment required to EGA to register)
