Hunt Memorials was honored in the Garden Monument category. The winning project, This Old Tree, was crafted by Charlie Hunt from a lightning-struck tree. As the tree was being cut down, it was discovered to be a 300-year-old Native American Ceremonial Oak tree, with Native American artifacts placed deep in a hollow of the tree, including a lock of braided hair. This project incorporates three portions of wood from this tree and reclaimed granite that Charlie carved with hand-tooled textures.  Charlie Hunt is known for his stone sculpture however, he “equally finds the beauty in wood.”
