Shelby Brice was an elegant woman. Her family requested a timeless design that embodied her love of birds and flowers. The bird and floral elements were designed as if they were an engraved pattern on an ornate piece of jewelry. These elements will be carved in shallow relief so that they appear more as a subtle texture from a distance. The detail becomes more evident as one approaches the memorial.
Bran Oswalt, AICA, Brown Memorials envisioned a tall, linear shape with negative space and subtle rounded detail has an elegant presence. A black and white color scheme creates a classic and unique look. This design focuses on the use of carved patterns as textural elements and a classic black and white contrast. Material anticipated to be jet black and steel grey granite. This drawing is the third or fourth variation of the design which evolved over several weeks.
