The Johns-Carabelli Company was honored in the Marker category. The oversized bevel ledger memorial for the Medley-Marxen families, designed by Monica Johns, is composed of African Jet Black granite with two flowing layers. The split pieces, for Sara and her son Matthew, feature a baseball diamond symbolizing Matthew’s “love for the game” and a Cleveland skyline for Sara’s “hometown city where her family roots began.” A marker is defined as a monument installed flush to the ground.
The Johns-Carabelli Company was built on the foundation of trust, fairness, ability, and dedication of five generations. In 1879, Carabelli & Broggini, the first monument company in Clevland, Ohio was founded. Since their beginnings the family has continued to make an impact in the memorialization business with their design and monument expertise.
