Kylie’s family were searching for a unique design that spoke to her loving, free spirited nature. The primary design element is a depiction of her dragonfly tattoo. Heather Sturgill, CM, AICA, Sears Monument Co., was able to create this hand etching from the actual sketch from the tattoo artist.

The first challenge for this momument was cemetery’s restriction of a two-foot wide base. After discussions, Sturgill was able to extend the width of the design to accommodate the dragonfly wings.

The next challenge was that the black diamond granite stone was slightly different that the original design after the manufacturing process. Finally the inspiration for the typeface was Alice in Wonderland.
